CULTURE COUNTS: THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES IN OUR TIME: RESOURCES

We asked our panelists to provide us with links pertinent to their talks, and additionally gathered material from our audience in the webinar chat. We have organized these materials by topic and provide links to them all here.

CALLS TO ACTION:
  • Ways to Support Minnesota’s Immigrant Communities as ICE Activity Escalates.
  • The non-profit Americans for the Arts has a website; its “By Location” page has state-by-state links to info and ways to get involved. Its “Advancing Arts Locally” page can connect you to the municipal or county level.
  • If you want to address the national level, an easy way to tell your Federal electeds to properly fund the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts is through the links at the "Protect The NEA" page at the Americans for the Arts website.
  • Support ArtSpeak, a publishing platform that serves as a bridge between arts journalism and academia by blending experienced writers, designers, photographers, and digital technologists with FIU students, faculty, and professional staff.
  • Join The First Amendment Culture Team (F.A.C.T.), a New York City-based coalition of creatives, cultural workers, and organizers mobilizing to raise awareness about the First Amendment and the fundamental freedoms that make both art and democracy possible. www.fact-usa.com

THE ARTS IN AMERICA

  • "Yankovskaya says cultural institutions abroad are supported by a robust public funding apparatus — a starker contrast than ever to the U.S., where the Trump administration is moving to curtail federal investments in the arts." From Chicago Public Media

ART, SCIENCE, AND AI

  • More on STEAM (Science, Technology, Art, and Mathematics), from Arts Integration

THE LATEST ON OUR PANELISTS:

  • Alexis Rockman’s Naples: Course of Empire—the major exhibition we opened last January—is now on view in its entirety at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, alongside a focused selection of new works. The presentation will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue published by Hirmer.
