Mission: Our mission is to cultivate and nurture children and teach them teamwork and life skills through music-learning and performing in orchestral and chamber music settings.

CONTEXT

Lack of access to quality music education for students with special needs

Example: Collaboration with Garden of Hope, working with children who are victims of domestic and other violence

TARGET

Children eager to learn music who may not have means to pay for lessons and classes


RESPONSE

Foster a supportive learning environment.

Building confidence and increase self-esteem of children through their progress in music education.

Teaching team-building and leadership skills to children and youth.

Inspiring young students by mentorship program, and performing with world-class artists.



OUTCOMES

Teaching children to learn how to learn, and be able to navigate in the language of music.

Training young musicians who wish to continue in a musical career.

Building future audiences and raising future parents of young music lovers.

Helping to grow kind and loving citizens of the world.

Current Status and Project Goals:  Yeou-cheng Ma has been running the group and needs to arrange for a successor; ClassACT connected her with classmate Andrea Kirsh who was able to advise on board structure and fundraising. The orchestra was able to have a very successful tour to several cities in China during the summer of 2017, including performances in Shanghai and Ningbo, the ancestral home of the society's founder.
